UK haulier Armistead European Transport has added three new curtainsiders from Schmitz Cargobull to its trailer fleet, after being impressed with the longevity and robustness of assets it first bought from the manufacturer five years ago.
Armistead’s original Schmitz Cargobull trailers have required minimal maintenance, despite half a decade of weekly multi-drops from north Lancashire to locations in Germany.
Andrew Armistead, Managing Director at Armistead European Transport, says: “Our trailers are on a demanding and varied schedule between the UK and Europe so it’s really important they can handle all types of work. We can transport a 25-tonne payload full of paper one day and chemicals the next. We’re very impressed at how well our existing trailers have performed over the years, and didn’t hesitate in choosing Schmitz Cargobull again.”
Each new trailer has been constructed on Schmitz Cargobull’s MODULUS bolt-on bolt-off chassis, which provides enhanced strength and an axle load of up to 27 tonnes. The chassis construction also makes it easy to replace components quickly if required, minimising downtime.
Plus, the trailers include Schmitz Cargobull’s ROTOS running gear, which extends the life of brake pads and the wheel bearings, further reducing maintenance time and costs on Armistead’s new assets.
Based in Carnforth, Armistead European Transport has an 18-strong trailer fleet and provides a range of haulage services throughout the UK and Europe including daily deliveries and collections in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
