SCOTTISH FUEL AND LOGISTICS FIRM GROWS RELATIONSHIP WITH FRUEHAUF WITH LATEST ORDER OF BULK TIPPERS

Fuel distributor and haulage firm, Carnegie Fuels, has taken delivery of six Fruehauf tippers after being impressed by the build quality of two trailers it purchased from the manufacturer last year.

The Brechin-based company will use the new stepframe Smoothsider tippers for the agricultural side of its business, transporting malt and barley to whisky producers in Scotland, and potatoes to food firms across England.

Director Kevin Carnegie says: “The initial trailers from Fruehauf were the perfect spec for our business and really impressed, so it was a no-brainer to put in a larger order to help with the company’s growth.

“Thanks to the firm’s significant production capabilities in Grantham, it was able to deliver these new units in time for this summer’s harvest, unlike other trailer manufacturers who were offering much longer lead times.

“Now, more than half our bulk tippers are from Fruehauf – and for good reason. It makes great trailers that are very well built and look fantastic.”

Joining a fleet of 26 trucks and 15 bulk tipping trailers, the 70 cubic yard capacity tippers are specified with remote-controlled weigh loaders and electric easy sheets, both of which can be operated by the driver from inside the cab.

“The two systems are important for our business and excellent aids for our drivers, allowing them to closely monitor loading and unloading, while ensuring load security and safety in transport,” Carnegie adds.

Established in 1981, the family-run business built its reputation on fuel distribution and has diversified into logistics work, specialising in short and medium distance haulage across Scotland and the UK.
