Manor Farm & Storage has hailed the “reliability and robustness” of two new stepframe Smoothsider tipper trailers purchased from Fruehauf, in a deal which strengthens the haulage firm’s long relationship with the manufacturer.
The 70 cubic yard capacity trailers are new additions to a mixed fleet of tippers that already includes four similar Fruehauf 68 cubic yard stepframes, with the first entering service in 2014.
Director Paul Reilly, who runs the business with his father Chris, cites the trailer’s size and shape, as well as the quality of the finished product, as the biggest benefits.
“It’s one of the strongest trailers on the market; they do a brilliant job transporting grain and aggregates. The Fruehauf trailer sits lower, improving stability on the road and enhancing its tipping capabilities,” he says.
The new arrivals will be working with Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units, mostly transporting grain from farms in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire to flour mills across the UK. They will also move some aggregates to fulfil the company’s other contracts.
“We do work them hard. The trailers are covering more than 120,000 km per year, so reliability and robustness is crucial. They are also easy to clean and maintain, and we know from experience that Fruehauf trailers are built to last a long time,” Reilly adds.
Fruehauf’s excellent customer service was also highlighted by the firm, especially the advice and help of National Technical Sales Manager, Karl Spooner. “Karl did everything he promised, ensuring all our trailer specifications were met and ensuring timely delivery of the trailers.”
Fruehauf’s stepframe Smoothsider trailers are produced at its 64-acre site in Grantham, Lincolnshire, where the automated manufacturing process is renowned for its precision engineering, fabrication facilities and quality control.
