FRAIKIN LAUNCHES TRANSFORMATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME TO SUPPORT COMPANY VISION

Coventry-based commercial fleet services company Fraikin is searching for candidates for its newly developed apprenticeship scheme – a programme designed specifically to find the next generation of team leaders for the business.

In a first for Fraikin, the Business Support Apprenticeship Programme will place each candidate within the hub of operations at the company’s headquarters. The programme will offer experience across multiple departments and will include hands-on involvement in a number of meaningful and significant business projects from the outset.

The 18-month apprenticeship programme is scheduled to begin in January 2018, with each candidate working towards a Customer Service Level 3 qualification. Upon successful completion of the programme, Fraikin will explore any potential opportunities to move apprentices into a permanent role at the company.

Ant Perfect, Learning & Development Manager at Fraikin, explains: “We are looking to invest in genuine talent across the core areas of our business. Other Customer Service apprentices will generally be placed in roles that simply provide a ‘feel’ for the business. What we’ve developed is vastly different – our candidates will take ownership of business-critical projects, making a very real contribution to the company over the length of the programme.”

Broken into three rotations, each candidate will spend six months in a different department, working on a range of important individual projects both internally and customer-facing. This process is designed to create a well-rounded, highly skilled pool of talent that will form the pipeline of Fraikin’s newest team leaders. Successful candidates who make the transition to a permanent role will be placed on Fraikin’s in-house management development programme; a pathway designed to shape their career with Fraikin.

“We are investing in the future and looking at ways of attracting the best people to work for us, over the long term,” continues Perfect. “The apprenticeship programme is really just the starting point of our development agenda, it’s been scrupulously designed to provide each candidate with the tools needed to set themselves a clear career path that goes beyond the initial 18 months.”

Fraikin is working with external providers Blue Sky Assessing and B-Skill, both of whom deliver the framework for the Customer Service programme, as well as ongoing support and guidance for each apprentice. There are no classroom-based components, with all necessary elements completed on-site across the three business rotations.

Fraikin aims to be the most customer focused, competitive and innovative commercial vehicle provider in the UK, and the apprenticeship programme forms an integral part of this vision.
