News Summary:
- Essex-based passenger transport operator equips its entire fleet with Wheely-Safe’s cloud-connected technology
- The system has already proved its worth by flagging a slow puncture on the firm’s minibus before it went out onto the road
- South East Coaches is a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Earned Recognition operator and installed the safety system to further improve compliance
The decision to protect its entire fleet with Wheely-Safe Connect is already beginning to ‘pay for itself’ for South East Coaches.
The Essex-based business was able to stop one of its vehicles heading out onto the road with a slow puncture after installing the intuitive, cloud-connected technology on its nine coaches and one minibus.
Ashley Gamon, Operations Manager at South East Coaches, says: “The system is easy to use and has already flagged up a potentially dangerous scenario. I received an alert on my phone that there had been a slight drop in pressure on one of the tyres on the minibus.
“When I inspected the vehicle the next morning, sure enough we found a nail. If we hadn’t had Wheely-Safe installed, that minibus could have gone out to work in a dangerous condition, which could have led to a costly roadside breakdown and repair bill. So, it has already started to pay for itself.”
Wheely-Safe technology continuously monitors tyre pressures, wheel nut movement and hub temperatures, helping identify potential issues before they become a problem.
The latest generation system enables data to be transmitted not only to the driver in the cab but also to the transport team back at base. This real-time information allows for quicker identification of issues, improving fleet management, reducing downtime, and enhancing vehicle safety.
South East Coaches was keen to add another layer of security to its vehicles, to ensure first-class service and safety for its customers.
“As a DVSA Earned Recognition operator, we’re committed to going above and beyond when it comes to safety and compliance. This is another step in that direction,” adds Ashley.
“Our private hire coaches can take us anywhere in the UK and overseas. To have this technology constantly feeding us data gives us real peace of mind that we’ll know about any issues with the wheel or tyre before they become serious. The last thing we want is a coach full of passengers stuck on the side of the road, or worse.”
South East Coaches is a long-established coach hire company serving Essex and London and catering to the travel needs of businesses, schools and individuals.

Notes to editor:
Founded in 2010, Wheely-Safe is an innovative automotive safety technology company focused on eliminating some of the most persistent and high-risk challenges in road transport.
The company’s first commercial solutions, launched in 2018, were developed to address critical wheel-end risks including wheel loss, tyre under-inflation, and excessive wheel hub temperatures — issues that can lead to costly breakdowns, vehicle damage, and serious safety incidents. Building on real-world fleet experience, a second-generation product range was introduced in 2023, delivering enhanced accuracy, improved durability, and easier installation and operation.
Today, Wheely-Safe Connect represents the next evolution in wheel-end safety. The connected system continuously monitors wheel nut movement, tyre pressure, and other safety-critical conditions in real time, providing instant alerts to drivers and fleet operators before minor issues escalate into failures or roadside incidents. By combining proven monitoring technology with modern connectivity, Wheely-Safe enables fleets to move from reactive maintenance to proactive prevention.
The result is clear: improved vehicle safety; reduced downtime; lower maintenance and recovery costs; enhanced compliance; greater peace of mind for drivers and fleet managers.
With a focus on innovation, reliability, and practical fleet performance, Wheely-Safe continues to set new standards in wheel-end safety and operational efficiency.
