TVL Security responds to surge in latch attacks with all-new van safety technology

NEWS SUMMARY:

  • LatchSafe provides full latch coverage and strong resistance to forced entry, setting a new standard for tradespeople and fleet operators
  • Development was driven by a surge in latch-related break-ins reported through Tell TVL, a secure online community where van owners share reports of real-life vehicle crime
  • Engineered from highstrength stainless steel with antidrill reinforcement, LatchSafe eliminates exposed weak points to protect against cutting and drilling attacks

The UK’s leader in aftermarket vehicle security innovation, TVL Security, has introduced LatchSafe, its latest advancement in van protection. Developed in response to real-world data from the business’ Tell TVL platform, LatchSafe provides full latch coverage and strong resistance to forced entry, setting a new standard for tradespeople and fleet operators.

Engineered by TVL’s award-winning Innovation Team and first conceptualised by founder Tony Powell, LatchSafe is built from high-strength stainless steel, reinforced with anti-drill manganese plating. Combined with a fully enclosed design, the product eliminates any exposed weak point, forming a robust barrier that deters cutting and drilling attacks even from the most determined thieves.

Luke Powell, Commercial Director of TVL Group, says: “LatchSafe embodies our dedication to addressing real-world security challenges through practical, forward-thinking innovation. The product is engineered to provide full coverage and withstand the common attack techniques.

“By integrating high-strength materials we’ve ensured robust protection against cutting and drilling attempts. This marks a significant advancement in physical security.”

Data-driven design

Compatible with the latest major vehicles makes and models, LatchSafe’s development was driven by a surge in latch-related break-ins reported through Tell TVL, a secure online community where van owners share reports of real-life vehicle crime, including theft techniques and hotspots. By grounding its design in verified user data, TVL Security ensures LatchSafe addresses genuine threats rather than hypothetical risks.

“By removing guesswork and relying on direct feedback from affected users, our Innovation Team can prioritise features that offer our customers immediate value,” adds Powell. “The result is a suite of security solutions that reflect the current landscape of vehicle crime, with each product tailored to meet the evolving challenges faced by owners.”

The Tell TVL platform, hosted in partnership with the International Security Register (ISR), calls on companies and van owners who have had items from their vans, or their vans themselves, stolen to anonymously report full details including images at www.telltvl.co.uk, as well as reporting the crime to the police.

This data is then used to create a real-time national database capturing the full scale and nature of van crime across the UK. Registered users are provided with free anonymised data reports highlighting crime hotspots and receive targeted crime prevention advice based on trends in entry methods.

LatchSafe will be showcased on TVL Security’s stand – 5F40 – at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show (21-23 April, NEC Birmingham), alongside the business’s existing product range.

Based in Brentwood, Essex, TVL Security manufactures, supplies and installs a wide array of innovative products for both sole traders and larger businesses.
