Tell TVL supporters join forces at CV Show Crime Prevention Zone

Tell TVL’s Crime Prevention Zone is returning to the Commercial Vehicle Show, a year after the initiative launched at the same event.

In its first 12 months Tell TVL has already made impressive progress – gaining several key official supporters, including bott, Brigade, BVRLA, Mul-T-Lock, On The Tools and TES 2000, as well as backing from National Highways and the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC).

At the end of 2022 the online community was shortlisted for a major industry award and has now been given accreditation from Secured by Design (SBD) – the official police security initiative.

Building on this momentum, Tell TVL will be joined in its Crime Prevention Zone at the NEC, Birmingham on April 18-20 by experts from first-time CV Show attendees On The Tools, as well as SBD and the police, who will be delivering proactive advice and tips to help reduce van and tool theft.

Laura Moran, Managing Director of TVL Group, says: “We’ve seen good progress in growing the Tell TVL network and we’re delighted to welcome some of our supporters to the CV Show to help us continue spreading the word.

“Our work is far from done, however. Every day honest tradespeople are targeted by tenacious thieves who are ready and willing to go to extreme lengths to attempt to steal vans and tools. By working as a collective, we hope Tell TVL can continue to shed the light needed to highlight and prevent these crimes.”

The Tell TVL platform, hosted in partnership with the International Security Register (ISR), calls on companies and van owners who have had items from their vans or their vans themselves stolen to anonymously report full details including images at www.telltvl.co.uk, as well as reporting the crime to the police.

This data is then used to create a real-time national database capturing the full scale and nature of van crime across the UK. Registered users are provided with free anonymised data reports highlighting crime hotspots and receive targeted crime prevention advice based on trends in entry methods.

Sgt Paul Fagg from the NBCC adds: “The NBCC is excited to be part of the Tell TVL initiative to help build a more comprehensive national picture of van crime across the country.

“Through our national coordination role, we can use the data collected by Tell TVL to help inform police of national trends and patterns. By working together at a national level, we can help police at a local level target and prevent van crime more effectively.”

The Crime Prevention Zone will be based at TVL Group’s hub at stand 5D10, where the latter will also be unveiling a range of new specialist security products.
