TRANSAID PATRON VISITS MULTIMODAL 2024

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited Multimodal 2024 at the NEC last week, in her capacity as patron of Transaid, the official charity of the transport and logistics sector.

During her visit The Princess Royal took the opportunity to view corporate supporter Trailer Resources’ new Transaid-liveried trailer – making its debut at the event, hooked up to an ATL Haulage tractor unit. Following the conclusion of the show, it will join the company’s rental fleet and take to the roads across the UK, to help raise awareness of Transaid’s life-saving road safety and access to health projects across sub-Saharan Africa.

The visit also provided a valuable opportunity for The Princess Royal to spend time with several of the show’s exhibitors and visitors, including representatives from ATL Haulage, CCL Logistics, EORI, Fagan & Whalley, Freightliner, Howard Tenens, Iron Mountain, Logistics UK, Maersk, Maritime Transport, MSC (UK), Multimodal, Pall-Ex, RHA, Simpex Express, Swain Group, Trailer Resources, and UKWA. She also visited the Malcolm Group’s stand, almost 10 years to the day since she had welcomed them on board as a Transaid corporate partner.

Andrew Malcolm, Chief Executive of Malcolm Group, says: “It is hard to believe that it’s a decade since we pledged our expertise, resources, and global reach in support of Transaid. The opportunities to participate in the cycle challenges, corporate partner trips, and other events have been incredible, and we’re proud to continue to give our backing to such a wonderful organisation.”

Caroline Barber, Chief Executive of Transaid, says: “Multimodal is a hugely important event in our calendar, and it was fantastic for our patron to join us and talk about Transaid with so many of our corporate partners and supporters. As one of the three founders of Transaid more than 25 years ago, few people can talk as passionately about our work, or have visited as many of our projects and seen the positive impact we have on local communities.”

About Transaid

Transaid transforms lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport. Founded by Save the Children, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and its Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, the international development organisation works with communities, partners, and governments to solve transport challenges throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Transaid works in two core areas, road safety and access to health, to solve two of the biggest transport challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. Transaid’s road safety work focuses on influencing safe driver behaviour with long term programmes in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, responding to local needs for improved training for drivers and riders of trucks, buses, motorcycles and forklift trucks. On the access to health side, Transaid is working with local partners and communities to strengthen access to health services, primarily in rural areas. They are also working to strengthen health supply chains in collaboration with local partners and governments.

Transaid enjoys strong backing from the transport and logistics industry and the active involvement of its patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
