The transport and logistics industry has raised an incredible £100,681 at this year’s Scottish Transaid Dinner, held on 12 September at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa near Grangemouth, to support the international development organisation’s road safety and access to health projects.
Organisation of the event, which was attended by more than 300 executives and friends representing businesses across Scotland, was led by Lynsey Craik from John Mitchell Haulage & Warehousing. She worked tirelessly to pull off a magnificent evening, with support from Transaid Chair and former Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken, and Nicola Robertson of The Malcolm Group.
Funds raised came from ticket sales, sponsorships and a unique charity auction, which even included an Ifor Williams TT2515 tipper trailer being sold for £6,500!
Speaking after the event, Joan Aitken said: “We’ve been blown away by the scale of support for Transaid. To see the industry come together like this demonstrates, once again, that this is a very special organisation which many people hold dear to their heart. It reaffirms all of the hard work put in by Transaid and its partners.”
The significant sum of money will go to supporting Transaid’s work to transform lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport, working with communities, partners, and governments to help solve transport challenges throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Guests at the Scottish Transaid Dinner, held in association with event partners Malcolm Group and the RHA, were treated to a fantastic line-up of entertainment, sponsored by John Mitchell Haulage and Warehousing. This included award-winning comedian Ray Bradshaw, fresh from performing daily throughout August at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The Scottish Transaid Dinner first took place in 2022. Organisers now hope to make it a bi-annual fixture on the industry’s calendar, with an even bigger celebration in the planning for September 2026.
