DP WORLD JOINS TRANSAID AS LATEST CORPORATE PARTNER

Smart logistics solutions provider DP World has signed a three-year agreement with Transaid to become its latest corporate partner. The global business joins more than 30 companies from across the sector in pledging its support to Transaid, which has been the official charity of the UK transport and logistics industry for 27 years.

DP World hosted members of the Transaid team at its London Gateway logistics hub last October, sharing a tour of the facility and the infrastructure used to keep its supply chains moving. It had previously sponsored Transaid’s 25th year anniversary showcase event in 2023.

Ernst Schulze, Chief Executive Officer for Ports and Terminals at DP World in the UK, says: “DP World has a firm commitment to supporting communities and leaving a positive legacy in the areas which we operate. We have been closely following Transaid’s projects for some time, and we are excited to get behind an organisation which does such fantastic work around road safety and access to healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa.”

Caroline Barber, Chief Executive of Transaid, says: “DP World brings a new area of expertise and truly global reach to our organisation, which I am sure will be a huge asset across our projects in 2025 and beyond.

“The support of our corporate partners is one of the key reasons our programmes are so successful, and it’s fantastic to kick-off the new year with DP World pledging its support. We look forward to continuing to develop this exciting new relationship.”

DP World operates across 78 countries offering supply chain solutions within the automotive, chemicals, healthcare, perishables, retail and technology industries. In the UK it has created a fully integrated business, with two deep water ports and rail freight terminals at London Gateway and Southampton, a rapidly expanding logistics park and an advanced software business providing online links to customers and border control.

About Transaid

Transaid transforms lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport. Founded by Save the Children, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), and its Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, the international development organisation works with communities, partners, and governments to solve transport challenges throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Transaid works in two core areas, road safety and access to health, to solve two of the biggest transport challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. Transaid’s road safety work focuses on influencing safe driver behaviour with long term programmes in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, responding to local needs for improved training for drivers and riders of trucks, buses, motorcycles and forklift trucks. On the access to health side, Transaid is working with local partners and communities to strengthen access to health services, primarily in rural areas. They are also working to strengthen health supply chains in collaboration with local partners and governments.

Transaid enjoys strong backing from the transport and logistics industry and the active involvement of its patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
