VERSATILE SCHMITZ CARGOBULL TRAILERS HELP ALCALINE REACH NEW HEIGHTS

Pan-European haulier Alcaline has taken on 10 new mega-coiler curtainsiders and five new mega Euroliners from Schmitz Cargobull with VARIOS Top Technology, giving the operator the flexibility to alter roof heights to comply with varying regulations across Europe.

The fleet of new trailers will transport automotive parts from Belgium, France, Italy and the Netherlands to the UK for premium manufacturers, and the specialist Schmitz Cargobull technology will ensure consistent compliance with height restrictions in different countries.

The trailers are certified to EN12642XL requirements and as such have the body strength to retain the load, which is helped by being able to adjust the height to suit goods of different sizes.

Lorenzo Zaccheo, Managing Director of Alcaline, says: “Using Schmitz Cargobull equipment has always saved us time and money, and their height-adjustable trailers mean we can work smarter and more efficiently. As we don’t need to buy certain trailers to work in certain countries, they also simplify operational planning.”

Alcaline has a 147-strong trailer fleet made up entirely of Schmitz Cargobull units, having worked closely with the world-renowned manufacturer for more than 15 years.

Each of the new trailers is built on a MODULUS bolted chassis which has been designed for both strength and durability and comes with a 10-year warranty against rust-through on all galvanised parts, reducing maintenance costs and boosting residual values.

Zaccheo adds: “The easy maintenance, low wear and tear, parts availability and MODULUS chassis make Schmitz Cargobull trailers excel amongst others. We’ve got some Schmitz Cargobull assets that we’ve used for a decade and still in excellent condition. However, given we’ve got a lot of work in mainland Europe, we need a service network we can trust wherever we are, and Schmitz Cargobull is the only trailer manufacturer that can offer us that support.”

Established in 1993, Alcaline transports full and part-loads across Europe, with a subsidiary in the Netherlands and a satellite office in Italy.
