STOKE HAULIER APPLAUDS QUICK TURNAROUND OF SCHMITZ CARGOBULL CURTAINSIDERS BUILT IN MANCHESTER

Reid Freight Services has hailed the efficiency of Schmitz Cargobull’s manufacturing operation in Manchester, after taking delivery of two S.CS FIXED ROOF curtainsider semi-trailers.

The Stoke-based haulage firm, which transports palletised goods across the UK and overseas, has also added a Euroliner to its fleet from Europe’s biggest trailer manufacturer, which is customised with a rear-mounted Moffett forklift truck.

Chad Smith, Transport Contracts Manager at Reid Freight Services, says: “We needed two new curtainsiders quite urgently due to high demand. Schmitz Cargobull promised a quick turnaround and duly delivered.

“We waited less than four months from the order to delivery, which was very impressive given the current production delays impacting the transport industry. Schmitz also did a great job in spec’ing out the trailers with everything we needed, so the vehicles were ready to be put into operation straightaway.”

The curtainsiders are the first Schmitz Cargobull semi-trailers to join the company’s extensive fleet. They will be used for general haulage and the company’s work supporting the rail industry with the transport of equipment and maintenance parts.

“The new trailers look fantastic. With a payload capacity of up to 26 tonnes and side loading height of up to 3,100mm, they will definitely improve the efficiency of our business,” says Smith.

The new S.CS FIXED ROOF trailers comply with DIN EN 12642 Code XL load security regulations and feature a bulkhead specific for the British market. They are built on Schmitz Cargobull’s fully galvanised MODULOS chassis which comes with a 10-year warranty against rust-through and have ROTOS axles covered by a 1,000,000km or six-year warranty, whichever comes first.

Schmitz Cargobull Regional Manager for the North West, Wales and West Midlands, Geoff Ward, says: “With the turnaround time in the build and delivery of the S.CS FIXED ROOF semi-trailers for Reid Freight Services, we have again demonstrated our ability to exceed expectations and quickly meet the demands of new customers after ramping up production at our new Manchester plant.”

Officially opened in March, the facility is producing trailers specially developed for the UK and Irish markets. In addition to the S.CS FIXED ROOF, the dry freight box S.BO PACE and recently-launched S.CS FREEPOST curtainsider are also being manufactured in Manchester.
