SCHMITZ CARGOBULL SUPPLIES TRAILER IN TWO DAYS FOR H WHITTAKER

Macclesfield-based haulier H Whittaker and Sons has taken on a new curtainsider in rapid time, thanks to Schmitz Cargobull.

The firm regularly carries out a route to Germany every week that transports everything from paper to chemicals, and when the company needed a trailer at short notice, Schmitz Cargobull was able to provide the perfect asset within two working days.

Director Adrian Whittaker placed an order on Thursday evening – and by Tuesday morning was able to pick up his new trailer from Schmitz Cargobull’s state-of-the-art facilities at Altenberge.

He says: “This is the first Schmitz Cargobull trailer we’ve ever bought and we have been very impressed, both with its cost-effectiveness and how quickly we were able to get a brand new trailer. It’s a really good piece of kit that’s well thought out and put together, so we hope to run it for many years to come.”

Schmitz Cargobull was able to turn around the trailer in double-quick time thanks to its economies of scale. As the largest semi-trailer manufacturer in Europe, trailers are routinely built to customer specification with standard options in a fraction of the time usually associated with trailer manufacturing.

This means that companies potentially avoid unnecessary expenditure on a ‘transition trailer’ to provide short-term cover while waiting for their ‘real’ trailer to be delivered, and don’t have to take an existing stock trailer, but instead have a trailer built specifically for them.

The new trailer joins the H Whittaker fleet of nine assets – including two rigids – and will used across the company’s delivery network. The trailer includes a variety of features to maximise its flexibility, including ferry shackles and EN 12642 XL certification for load securing.
