SCHMITZ CARGOBULL HELPS HALVE COSTS FOR FCL EVENTS LOGISTICS ACROSS EUROPE

FCL Events Logistics has halved the cost of its pan-European operations thanks to additional volume provided by four new MEGA box trailers from Schmitz Cargobull, being used to transport equipment to world renowned Formula One circuits and European festivals and exhibitions.

Cargo space is maximised in the MEGA box trailers because of proprietary FERROPLAST® panels, which are thinner and stronger than conventional bodywork, meaning FCL Events Logistics has reduced the number of trailers needed for each event.

The four new additions to its fleet are being used to transport furniture to corporate hospitality suites to race tracks in Monte Carlo, Silverstone and Monza, and to take flight cases, lighting and stage equipment to concerts and trade shows across Europe.

Robert Grant, Business Development Manager at FCL Events Logistics, says: “Everything we transport is large and bulky, so internal volume is a real deal breaker for us. The increased size of Schmitz Cargobull MEGA box models make a huge difference to our operations because we can now carry the same volume in one trailer instead of having to use two, cutting our costs in half.”

Grant adds: “I’ve used Schmitz Cargobull trailers before in my role in a different business so I knew they were just what FCL Events Logistics needed. They’re very easy to maintain, which is important because we regularly go to high-profile events and can’t afford our schedules to slip. Downtime is not an option, which is why Schmitz Cargobull is the best choice.”

All of the trailers have specially designed ramps and carriers to boost efficiency during the loading and offloading process, making it easier and safer to lift heavier goods, and comply with the 4m height limit imposed for international European transport. All maintenance work will be conducted in-house and each trailer will be used for at least a decade.

The trailers are supported by Schmitz Cargobull’s dedicated service partner network across Europe that provides 24/7 help, 365 days each year.

FCL Events Logistics operates a 19-strong fleet ranging from small vans to articulated trucks for clients across many sectors including broadcasting, marketing and sports.
