First-Time Exhibitor Phoenix Fluid Power to Showcase Fluid Control Technology at London EV Show 2024

PETERBOROUGH, England, October 15, 2024 — Peterborough-based manufacturer Phoenix Fluid Power, which has worked on major projects for top tier motorsport teams, is set to make its debut at the London EV Show, presenting its proven fluid control technology for the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

The company’s high-performance systems are bespoke built to suit the requirements of the rapidly growing EV market, spanning the passenger car, commercial vehicle and motorsport sectors. To-date, they have been widely used to ensure the safe and precise stress and performance testing of critical components like batteries, inverters and electric motors.

With a history of more than 40 years in fluid power, Phoenix brings a wealth of experience to EVs from its work in aerospace, oil and gas, and the marine sectors.

Elizabeth Noles, General Manager & Director of Phoenix Fluid Power, says: “Our fluid control solutions have already been used by teams in both Formula One and Formula E – two of the most challenging environments possible, where precision, reliability, and data accuracy is critical to performance.

“For example, through precise management of temperature, flow rate, and pressure, our systems are designed to heat a vehicle’s battery to the optimal racing temperature, and once the race concludes, to seamlessly cool the battery down. We’re talking about accuracy to within +/- 1°C, before effortlessly cooling the battery to maximise efficiency and longevity.”

Phoenix Fluid Power’s technology has undergone extensive simulation and testing at its facility in Peterborough, UK, conveniently located to serve many of the world’s major motorsport teams. They guarantee durability, accuracy, and high-frequency motion across extreme temperature ranges, from -40°C to 100°C.

“Our new Manufacturing Director Stefan Rice will be attending the show this year. With his extensive background in motorsport, including roles at McLaren Automotive and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, he brings a wealth of experience in high-performance engineering and will be available to discuss opportunities with both OEMs and race teams alike,” adds Noles.

Phoenix Fluid Power will be at Stand E52, where attendees can meet the team and view a scaled down version of its latest fluid control unit.
