MICHELIN PACKS ITS ENTIRE TRUCK TECHNICAL DATA BOOK INTO NEW SMARTPHONE APP

  • MICHELIN MyTechXpert app puts wealth of essential tyre information at your fingertips
  • Free-to-download app packed with advice to help HGV and PSV fleets to reduce costs

Michelin has launched a new free-to-use app to help tyre dealers and fleets access the latest technical information about Michelin bus, coach, truck and trailer tyres, plus selected van fitments, on their smartphones, wherever they’re working.

MICHELIN MyTechXpert is available for iOS and Android devices and is an evolution of the well-known Michelin technical data book, which has been a trusted compendium of Michelin commercial vehicle tyre information for decades.

Launching the new app, Steve Chadwick, Brand Manager B2B for Michelin Tyre plc, says: “This has been a long-term project, driven by customer demand. We wanted this to be more than just an electronic copy of the previous data book, so from the outset the app had to add real value for customers. One huge advantage is that it will always be up-to-date – there’s no more waiting for next year’s book to come out to get the latest info.

“Plus, we’ve packed MICHELIN MyTechXpert with hundreds of high-quality reference images which allows users to zoom in and study particular details – incredibly useful when you’re trying to match examples of damage or irregular wear against our extensive database of images.”

Key information hosted within the app includes full technical data on more than 200 Michelin commercial vehicle tyres, from the smallest 6 R9 MICHELIN XTA trailer tyre, to the largest 525/65 R20.5 MICHELIN XS fitment, designed for heavy trucks operating on soft sand. Available information includes detailed sizing, inflation pressure suggestions, EU tyre labelling data, and, where applicable, regrooving information.

The app also provides a handy step-by-step guide to performing a detailed tyre inspection, helping users to identify wear and damage to the tread, sidewall, inner liner and bead – and to understand the probable causes.

Users also have full access to extensive advice and support around safe tyre fitting, winter regulations and local tyre legislation. The app also includes a handy tyre selector, to help dealers and fleets identify the optimum tyre for every application – with detailed descriptions and images of every product.
