GASREC RESTRUCTURES ITS OPERATIONS DIVISION AS GROWTH CONTINUES

Gasrec has made three internal promotions, all filling new positions as part of a major restructure of the business’ operations division.

Giles McLeod becomes Process Systems Lead, Mike Evans has been appointed as Maintenance Manager, and Andy Phillips is the new Technical Assurance Lead. The trio will report directly into Gasrec’s Chief Technical Officer, Tony Robinson.

The new roles are required to better position the company to continue to manage the significant growth that Gasrec has seen over the past few years.

McLeod, previously Maintenance Supervisor, will oversee all the control systems Gasrec has in place at its stations across the UK, such as the fuelling station telemetry and 24-hour CCTV feeds. An important part of his new role is managing the development of process control and information systems, as well as overseeing the network security of the business’s IT systems.

He says: “As our network of Bio-LNG stations in the UK continues to expand, it is vital we have the correct systems in place to make sure the critical technical information flows efficiently and is secure. This new role demonstrates the business’s focus on the potential of information technology and security to support its continued expansion.”

In the role of Technical Assurance Lead, Phillips will oversee control of the technical and mechanical aspect of Gasrec’s activities. He will be responsible for giving the final go-ahead before any new station goes live, ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and compliant with all necessary standards to ensure safe and efficient operations.

He says: “As we grow our station numbers and seek to diversify our technology supply base it is critically important that all systems and equipment come up to scratch. We are entering an incredibly busy period for the company, with a hugely exciting few years ahead of us.”

Evans, who like Phillips was previously a Maintenance Engineer, now has responsibility for all Gasrec’s maintenance activities and will manage all third-party maintenance contractors.  He is also in charge of the new Remote Monitoring Centre, which provides 24/7 monitoring of all Gasrec facilities across the UK for safety, security and operational efficiency.

He says: “The business is progressing at a fast rate, and I love the direction it’s moving in. The ethos of the company – helping to reduce harmful emissions from the transport sector and protect the environment – is such a positive movement to be part of. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and making sure all of our sites and equipment are as reliable as they can be to meet our customers’ requirements as the sector continues to grow.”
