FRAIKIN APPOINTS NEW NATIONAL ENGINEERING MANAGER

Commercial fleet services company, Fraikin, has appointed Mark Kellett as its new National Engineering Manager, charging him with the task of further strengthening the company’s already impressive maintenance offering across the UK.

Kellett, 46, who had previously worked for Fraikin for more than a decade, is returning to the company after three years as Head of Engineering at Specialist Fleet Services.

He says of his appointment: “When the opportunity presented itself to come back to Fraikin I grasped it with both hands. It’s great to see the direction the business is taking, the emphasis is on engineering and continuing to do what we do best, so I couldn’t wait to get involved.”

Beginning his career in 1990 as an apprentice mechanic at Transfleet Services (later Lex Transfleet), he worked his way up to Supplier and Engineering Manager before the business was purchased by Fraikin in 2005. Staying on board, he worked first as Regional Engineering Manager and then Head of Engineering, before taking on a new challenge at Specialist Fleet Services in 2017.

“Engineering is my passion, I’ve been working on that side of the industry my entire career, it’s certainly where my expertise lies. An important part of my new role is to improve the internalisation of our maintenance offering, building our workshop and mobile network so that we are able to continue offering our customers unrivalled levels of support,” adds Kellett.

The COVID-19 pandemic has obviously had a significant impact on the transport and logistics industry, but Kellett is impressed with the work Fraikin has been doing to face the new challenges the situation has presented.

“From what I’ve seen the business has been firing on all cylinders during the Coronavirus outbreak, the workshops have been open and working hard to support our customers – all of the maintenance teams have adapted well. It has to be said I’m really enjoying coming into work every day to see what new challenges await,” concludes Kellett.

A family man, Kellet has a huge interest in motorcycles and takes his bike out on the road whenever he can. A lover of rugby, he is also a huge Leicester Tigers fan.
