London Biggin Hill Airport-based aviation training organisation, Falcon Flying Group, has launched a new scholarship scheme aimed at supporting underprivileged and underrepresented individuals within the aerospace and aviation communities.
Working in collaboration with London Biggin Hill Airport, the British School of Aviation (BSA), Talent Squared GmbH and Modul University Vienna, Falcon Flying Group has established the Falcon Flying Fund, with an initial investment of £50,000 towards the programme.
Anoop Singh Bamrah FRAeS, Executive Director at Falcon Flying Group, says: “Providing opportunities for the next generation of aerospace and aviation personnel is more important now than ever before. Since 1977, Falcon has supported countless engineers and pilots and we now look to further our commitment. We believe that a lack of funding or opportunity should not hinder those with exceptional talent and ability from pursuing their desire to work in this incredible industry. The idea behind the Falcon Flying Fund is to help restore the balance.”
At launch, the new scheme will offer scholarships in: flight training – full PPL(A); theoretical training; theoretical training and examinations; medical referral fees; 20 hours up to first solo; remedial training; and flight hour building (up to 25 hours). As the new initiative takes off, the Falcon Flying Fund will look to expand further, supporting students across all facets of STEM, aerospace and aviation training.
The full format of the scheme and the qualifying requirements for the scholarships will be confirmed in the coming months, but the team at the Falcon Flying Fund has committed to providing at least £50,000 for the initial qualifying candidates to help them embark on their journey.
“We’re excited about the future of this initiative, and through the support and belief of our partners we intend to provide as many students as possible with an opportunity to thrive in our industry, an opportunity that would ordinarily pass them by,” adds Bamrah.
