DARVALL TO REVEAL ITS LATEST ANAESTHETIC DEVELOPMENTS AT VMX 2025

Sydney, Australia: 17 January 2025. The latest advancements in combatting anaesthetic hypothermia in small animals are to be showcased by Darvall, leader in anaesthesia equipment for the veterinary sector, at VMX in Orlando, 25 – 29 January 2025.

At the exhibition, Darvall also intends to spearhead a new conversation with industry leaders on how the vet community can further advance and foster animal recovery post-surgery.

Anaesthetic hypothermia is a common complication in animal patients and research shows that in the first 15-30 minutes of induction in cats and dogs, there is often a temperature loss of between 2-4°C. Effects of this can be detrimental as the inability to regulate body temperature means an animal’s recovery can become delayed or in extreme cases, the animal can die. Currently, 1 in 500 animals die under anaesthesia or sedation and around 50% of deaths occur during recovery when patients are hypothermic.

Darvall’s Cozy Heated Breathing Circuits have been developed to regulate an animal’s temperature with warm air inhalation from the very first breath after intubation. This solution ensures patient warming, reliable patient monitoring, and cost-effective low-flow anaesthesia delivery to reduce environmental emissions and increase staff safety from harmful gases.

Colin Dunlop, Managing Director at Darvall said: “We also intend to use VMX as the launch pad to commence a global discussion to further understand future market challenges in the animal anaesthetic and critical care sector, and how working together we can work to alleviate these pain pinch points for veterinarians.”

The Darvall team will be available at the Jorgensen Laboratories booth, number 2805, the company’s North American distributor. Both companies align in their commitment to provide veterinary practices with the highest quality equipment and technology.
