Sydney, Australia: 6 November 2024. Darvall will celebrate a new production milestone at the London Vet Show (LVS) 2024, taking place from 14-15 November, with more than 2,000 Stinger anaesthetic machines produced to date. The most recently manufactured units will form part of an order for the UK market, where the company has enjoyed significant success with its range of veterinary-specific anaesthesia equipment.
The Stinger range of machines, constructed from robust, mostly modular parts, is customisable to meet the specific needs of each customer. Their design facilitates easy maintenance by the end user.
One of the standout features is the delivery of low-flow anaesthesia down to 100ml per minute, which drastically reduces the consumption of oxygen and anaesthetic agents. This not only cuts down on waste but also minimises the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere, offering substantial environmental and economic benefits.
Furthermore, it is the only veterinary system that delivers low-flow benefits to all small animal patients in veterinary clinics. The Stinger represents over 15 years of research and development by the Darvall team, backed by a robust patent portfolio.
Darvall’s Founder and veterinary anaesthetist, Dr Colin Dunlop, said: “It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be part of a team that has built 2,000 Stinger anaesthetic machines over the past two decades.
“This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, reliable anaesthesia solutions to vets, and there’s no better place than LVS to celebrate such an achievement. Our machines are designed to meet the unique needs of veterinary patients, ensuring both safety and efficacy.”
From the outset, Darvall has sought to revolutionise veterinary anaesthesia through innovation, education and scientific excellence. The company will showcase how its extensive range of products and anaesthetic solutions has been created to enhance the practice of veterinary medicine at Stand R01. With the theme ‘Only Darvall’, visitors are invited to experience firsthand how its cutting-edge tools uniquely support the highest standards of animal care.
Colin added: “Much of the available equipment used in veterinary clinics is designed for adult human anaesthesia, where patients can be up to 100 times bigger. This may partly contribute to the significantly higher mortality rates in small animal anaesthesia.
“Darvall’s success reflects the industry’s demand for veterinary-specific anaesthesia equipment, particularly in small animals between 1 to 15kg, that ensures the best possible patient outcomes. We’re proud that we’ve been able to deliver. Having started my veterinary anaesthesia journey in Glasgow in 1981, it’s gratifying that our 2,000th Stinger will be used in a UK veterinary clinic.”
Darvall also plans to hold a small celebratory event with friends and colleagues in Sydney, where the company’s headquarters are located. As the business continues to grow and innovate, it remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing veterinary anaesthesia and improving patient care worldwide.
