Sydney, Australia: 3 January, 2024. Darvall is set to showcase its latest breathing equipment, developed to regulate an animal’s temperature under anesthesia, at the upcoming VMX 2024 veterinary conference, in Orlando, Florida.
Temperature monitoring is crucial for ensuring the safety of animals under anesthetic, and recent research shows there is a rapid critical temperature loss of between 2-4°C in the first 15-30 minutes of induction in cats and dogs. To address this issue, Darvall’s Cozy Heated Breathing Circuits reduces this heat loss with warm air inhalation from the very first breath after intubation.
The equipment works by safely delivering warmed inspired gases to the patient. The heating element is embedded in the smooth walled tubing ribbing, providing an innovative solution to critical heat loss.
Company founder, Dr Colin Dunlop, said: “We all know the challenges of placing animals under anesthetic, and the risk is a common problem industry professionals face. This is why it’s vital we have reliable and accessible equipment to tackle challenges, such as rapid heat loss; giving our veterinary healthcare providers confidence that they can ensure stability in patients.”
It follows a recent partnership with Jorgensen Laboratories – a newly appointed Darvall distributor across North America – who will be displaying the product on the Jorvet booth (#1409) at VMX, which runs from January 13-17.
A leading supplier of equipment to the veterinary profession, Jorgensen Laboratories has more than 50 years of experience importing veterinary instruments from Europe that were not readily available in the United States and Canada.
The company’s President and CEO, Dr Norm Jorgenson, said: “Working with North American major distributors, we are delighted to be affiliated with Darvall and to supply their products to the North American market. Our mission is to provide the vet community with the latest and highest quality medical equipment on offer, so that they can deliver the best possible treatment to our pets.”
Dr Colin Dunlop added: “We are pleased to announce this new partnership with Jorgensen Laboratories, who will play a key role in expanding our product line to veterinary clinics. I look forward to discussing our Cozy Heated Breathing Circuits at VMX, and welcome anyone who wishes to visit the Jorvet booth.”
The VMX expo gathers tens of thousands of world leaders and professionals in veterinary medicine, showcasing the latest products, designs and research in the field.
