Jet2.com has signed a major contract extension with software provider ELMS, committing to the powerful competency and compliance platform until at least 2028 to continue its commitment towards maintaining the highest levels of safety across its entire engineering staff.
Key to the decision was the launch of new functionality within the ELMS Solution, specifically aimed at improving safety, in which Jet2 played an integral role in developing. The airline will be the first to roll out these new features, which include supporting a new competency framework, enhanced authorisation module and integration within its maintenance monitoring systems.
Steve Taylor, Engineering Training & Development Manager at Jet2 says: “We’ve been using ELMS since 2016 and in that time have built an extremely collaborative relationship with the team. Working closely together, we have developed enhancements to the system that could have a significant impact for the industry.
“ELMS is an extremely powerful tool, and the next evolution of the software will help us – and other users – improve quality assurance through better staff competency management. The new functionality within the system will allow us to build a more complete and transparent overview of our workforce, including developing specific training needs to individuals, which means we are able to operate more efficiently and with more accountability, which in turn improves safety.”
An intuitive, cloud-based MRO software platform, the ELMS Solution replaces inefficient and antiquated paper-based processes with an instantly accessible way of tracking employee qualifications, training and experience to deliver clear and defined staff development and succession pathways. Users can also manage on the job assessments, workflows and complex authorisation processes, from any connected device.
Jet2’s maintenance division employs around 1,100 engineers, each with their own personal ELMS dashboard. With every individual’s competency, approval rating and training status logged within ELMS, management teams have access to a wealth of data that can be used to support and enhance risk and safety management, as well as provide an evidence trail of compliance to the regulator.
John Scale, General Manager at ELMS, says: “Working with a trusted partner in Jet2 has allowed us to facilitate a wealth of change within the system. Through new modules like authorisation management, competency processes, and API development, ELMS will drive improvements in efficiency, compliance, training and transparency across any organisation using the system, playing a key role in raising standards within the aviation industry.”
The UK’s third largest airline, Jet2 is based out of Leeds-Bradford Airport and operates a fleet of more than 127 aircraft, to 80 destinations from 12 airports across the country. In 2023 it welcomed more than 17 million passengers on over 100,000 flights.
