Veterinary professionals attending the Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) 2026, Orlando, Florida (January 17-21), will get to experience what life is like for pets behind bars – and glass – as part of an interactive demonstration by global animal housing and cabinetry provider CASCO Pet. The company will be inviting attendees to try its new experience, where visitors can physically compare the acoustic and overall differences between traditional stainless-steel cages and CASCO Pet’s advanced noise-reducing WELLKennels.
CASCO Pet is also planning to announce additions to its veterinary portfolio at VMX, with further details to be shared during the event.
The live demonstration aims to raise awareness of how kennel materials and design can affect patient stress and wellbeing, and the working environment and experience of veterinary teams. Delegates will be able to place their heads inside both kennel types to feel the difference for themselves, with the aim of starting a wider conversation about how veterinary environments can be designed to support both staff and animal welfare.
Kevin DeWalt, president of CASCO Pet’s US business, said: “Animal stress during veterinary visits is a significant challenge that can affect care teams as much as patients. Feedback we’ve gathered from veterinary professionals supports the negative impact traditional cages can have on animal comfort and staff wellbeing, and the difference that WELLKennels can make.
“At VMX, we’ll demonstrate how thoughtful design and advanced materials can create calmer, quieter, and more comfortable environments that support better outcomes for pets and the people who care for them.”
The initiative follows findings from a 2024-2025 CASCO Pet survey of more than 1,200 veterinary professionals in the United States and UK, which revealed that:
- 72% witnessed animal stress in veterinary kennels either frequently (a few times a week) or very frequently (daily), with most respondents using stainless steel kennels.
- Noise levels from animals (79%), handling anxious or stressed animals (58%), and noise levels from kennel design and materials (39%), were ranked as the top three issues contributing to staff stress in kennel areas.
- 31% cited noise levels from kennels and treatment areas as a key contributor to staff stress and burnout.
An earlier survey found that 75% of veterinary professionals regarded ‘excessive noise’ as a challenge with stainless-steel housing, with 22% linking it to longer patient recovery time.
CASCO Pet’s immersive experience at Booth 1020 at VMX will go beyond a simple product demonstration to create a sensory, side-by-side comparison of stainless-steel kennels and WELLKennels. The team will also be available to discuss sustainable design, animal housing solutions, and the future of veterinary facility planning.
In addition, CASCO Pet will be carrying out a follow-up survey on stress and burnout in the veterinary sector. Building on its 2024-2025 survey, CASCO Pet will look to uncover how the impact of high workload, understaffing and work-life balance has changed in the 12 months since it last surveyed the global veterinary community.
CASCO Pet captured these findings through surveys at leading veterinary events worldwide – such as the London Vet Show at Excel London, the VMX Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Florida, and the WVC Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada – providing insights directly from the heart of the profession.
