Asset Alliance Group delivers new trucks in record time to support Furniture Village Glasgow West opening

Furniture Village has praised Asset Alliance Group’s rapid response time, after it delivered two new DAF XB 190 trucks with personalised plates in just six weeks to support a major new store opening in Scotland.

Carl Hood, Group Logistics Controller at Furniture Village, says: “It was a tight schedule, and from the green flag going down we moved very quickly. Asset Alliance Group really pulled it out of the bag for us.”

The new store in Glasgow is only Furniture Village’s second in Scotland, after Edinburgh opened last year, and at 50,000sq ft its biggest in its 58-strong estate. The Hillington Park site also features a 17,000sq ft fulfilment centre, which will be home to the vehicles and could support further expansion in the country.

To mark the occasion, Asset Alliance Group sourced custom plates for the DAFs – FV 25 FVL and FV 24 FVL.

The 7.5-tonne box body trucks are equipped with Dhollandia tail lifts and will be double-manned and used for home deliveries.

Conforming with Furniture Village’s preferred approach, the vehicles have been supplied on a five-year contract hire basis with full repair and maintenance, including tyres. This offers the company peace of mind with a simple, single monthly payment to meet. The deal was facilitated by Simon Bird, National Account Manager at Asset Alliance Group.

The new vehicles were painted and had livery fitted by Midlands-based commercial vehicle specialist WCC.

Established in 1989, Furniture Village opened its first site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It handles deliveries inhouse using a mix of 3.5 tonne and 7.5-tonne box body trucks, topping out with tractor units pulling box body semi-trailers in an approximately 80-strong fleet. It has worked with Asset Alliance Group since 2017.
